Rapha's Tour De France poster project 1925 1935

from $200.00

Rapha is a luxury cycling clothing and accessory brand. They offered me the opportunity to create a commemorative poster for their limited series of prints “Rapha La Centieme” celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France. 10 artists were commissioned to create 10 unique posters, each limited to 100 copies, each one representing a unique decade in Le Tours history. These went on sale last summer a few weeks before the 100th 'Grand Depart' and sold out instantly. Broken down into the 10 decades between 1903 and 2013, each work represents a specific era of the race. Calling on well-established illustrators and graphic designers from Europe and North America, the collection captures the diversity, beauty, suffering and cultural significance of cycling’s grandest race. Years and illustrators/ designers: Print 1 – 1903 - 1912: Ultan Coyle Print 2 – 1913 - 1926: Riccardo Guasco Print 3 – 1927 - 1936: Sheryl Chapman Print 4 – 1937 - 1953: Rohan Eason Print 5 – 1954 - 1963: Yuji Yamada Print 6 – 1964 - 1973: Jo Burt Print 7 – 1974 - 1983: David Sparshott Print 8 – 1984 - 1993: Max Erdenberger Print 9 – 1994 - 2003: Geoff McFetridge Print 10 – 2004 - 2013: Jack Saunders rapha.cc
